My ‘real’ job and passion is serving children at-risk. I’ve been on board with The SOLD Project as Executive Director since May 2008 and can think of no better way to spend my life, or give my talents, than working with this group of children and staff in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
Our mission is to prevent child prostitution through culturally relevant programs for vulnerable children and to share their stories to empower creative, compassionate people to act.
The SOLD Project’s FREEDOM Project is a four-part prevention program that focuses on keeping children out of Thailand’s infamous sex industry. The FREEDOM Project is located in the poverty-stricken villages in northern Thailand that are known as high-risk areas and breeding grounds for children who fall into prostitution. Children in these areas are often forced to drop out of school and sent to the city to work. Without proper education, their options are few and they are easily lured into the sex industry.
